ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY

In order to help prevent pollution of local creeks and beaches, Channelkeeper adopted a two-mile stretch of Highway 101 in Carpinteria through the Caltrans Adopt-A-Highway program.  Channelkeeper conducted monthly clean-ups of our adopted stretch, which ran southbound from the Carpinteria Salt Marsh to the Casitas Pass overpass, picking up trash before it reaches waterways. Since we adopted our section of highway in mid-2002, we've picked up more than 4,000 pounds of trash!
