OTHER MONITORING

Channelkeeper recently began a partnership with the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary to evaluate the water quality impacts of recreational boating around the Channel Islands. We are testing for bacteria (total coliform, e.coli and enterococcus).

Channelkeeper also conducts routine water quality monitoring at Fernald Point (bi-monthly for bacteria), and additionally on an as-needed basis, when we identify polluted discharges through our routine patrols of local waterways or from citizen reports.

Channelkeeper has also been involved with other water quality monitoring efforts including arundo monitoring along the Ventura River, TMDLs, pre-dawn monitoring in the Ventura River watershed and optical brightener monitoring in the Goleta Slough watershed.
